My name is James Hammon, and i am the owner and lead instructor of Concealed defense and Training LLC in Grand Prairie, Texas. My approach to personal protection and security is deeply rooted in my six years of experience as a military combat soldier. That background taught me the absolute necessity of tactical discipline, continuous situational awareness, and the practical application of the Cooper color code-principles i passionately integrate into civilian / security instruction today.
For over a decade, I have dedicated myself to empowering others through professional, reality-based training. With 11 years of experience as a certified NRA Firearm Instructor and 11 years as a License to Carry Instructor. I have guided countless students in mastering the mechanics of firearms alongside the critical life-saving skills of de-escalation and conflict avoidance.
Recently, I expanded my commitment to comprehensive self-defense education by becoming a Concealed Carry Instructor for US Lawshield. My ultimate mission at Concealed Defense and Training is to provide an elite standard of instruction, equipping individuals with the tactical knowledge, legal understanding, and resilient mindset required to protect themselves and their communities confidently.
License To Carry Class ($75)
LTC (Classroom) - Learning Subjects with Objectives
Laws that relate to weapons and to the use of deadly force
* Laws that relate to carrying a handgun (where a handgun may / may not be carried)
* Use of force and use of deadly force (understand when the use of deadly force can be justified)
* Understand the considerations for license holders during interaction with law enforcement
Handgun Use and Safety
* Handgun use and safety including the use of restraint holsters and methods to ensure the secure
carrying of carried handguns
Non-violent Dispute Resolution
* Define and understand situational awareness
* Effective communication skills / Barrier affecting communication
* Identify / understand the three ego states (P.C.A. - whom are you dealing with)
Safe Storage
* Proper Storage Practices for handguns
* Storage Practices that Eliminate the Possibility of Accidental injury to a child
* Know and understand the responsibilities, penalties and consequences for making a firearm
accessible to a child
LTC (Gun Range) - Handgun Proficiency Demonstration
Range Score of 70% (175 out of possible 250) minimum, 50 rounds of ammo is required
Shooting Stages (multiple series of shots per stage)
* Stage 1: Twenty shots (20) total will be fired from 3 yards (Maximum Points 100)
* Stage 2: Twenty shots (20) total will be fired from 7 yards (Maximum Points 100)
* Stage 3: Ten shots (10) total will be fired from 15 yards (Maximum Points 50)
Note: A minimum score of 175 is highly achievable before shooting stage 3 demonstration,
concentrate for high achievable scores during stage 1 & 2 interaction.
